Vick Files Guilty Plea
This man, his co-horts, and others like him infuriate me to no end. He and others deserve what they get. It's sad to think that he was a hero to so many people. Especially our youth.
There are many many others out there that do what he did. He got caught.
As a football player, he is great. As a man with morals, he is not.

Smoking Ban
I'm going to get on my soapbox now and comment about the Smoking Ban's that are sweeping the country.
First, I am a smoker. I have been since I was 18 years old. I am a member of the banned society.
Minnesota will be smoke free come October 1st. The county in which I live went smoke-free June 1st. The banned society has to be at least 25 feet away from any door, window, vent in an establishment. They will allow?! us to smoke in our home and vehicle. The county commissioners decided (all six of them) to make our county smoke free before the state did. No public meetings were held, no voting on the issue, just the decision of 6 people.
The same for the state. There was no referendum, no voting, only the voice of the chosen were heard. The chosen were the ones who received monies from, guess who, the large company who sells stop smoking aids.
The establishments here in the county are small ones. The government would like them to believe that they won't lose revenue. Well, what do you know, they are. Smokers are not going to their establishments because they can't smoke inside, while the non-smokers are few and far between. The small business owners in this state rely on the smoking community.
CLEAN AIR FOR EVERYONE!! is what they say. I say let the business owners decide if they want a smoking or non-smoking establishment. They are the ones that are going to suffer, especially here in Minnesota.
My t-shirt states: Member of the Banned Society
Free Choice, Not No Choice
And one more thing, my smoke will kill me far faster than it will you. It's irritating to you, unhealthy for me. Will I continue to smoke? Maybe, maybe not. But the government, remember Big Brother, is not going to decide for me.

Diet Commercials
Nothing against Jenny Craig, or NutriSystem, they could be wonderful programs, but PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEEAASSE, make some new commercials. I am so tired of seeing the same women over and over again, saying how they went from a whopping size 12, down to a size 2. Whenever they come on, I grab the remote.
And what's wrong with being a size 12, I'd like to know.

Profanity from a woman's mouth
I don't understand why people have to use profanity as their commom way of speaking. Don't they know any other words? And don't tell me that "everyone talks that way". I don't buy it. In my opinion, you get your message across to someone when NOT ONE WORD OF PROFANITY is used. Pofanity is a big turn off. Especially when it comes out of a woman's mouth. Yes, I did just say that.
I took a private little casual survey once, asking the male species(of various ages) what they thought of all these nasty words spewing out of a woman's mouth. Guess what! They had LESS RESPECT for them! They didn't mind it coming from their "buddies" but not from the female gender. But I also learned another interesting fact. These men would NEVER DARE tell them they didn't care for it! What is that!! NEVER DARE SAY ANYTHING! How sad is that. How very sad.

Beauty Products Issue
Have you ladies noticed the beauty products on television, notably the ones for "older"skin.
Now here's my question.
Why do they use YOUNG models to show how well the products work? I think that they think that we ladies might not have the eyesight to see what they are doing.... or enough of the grey matter left to fiqure it out.
I want to see commercials that have models who actually have the aging skin! If the products show results then, well..... get out of my way, cause I'll be the first one in the checkout line!!

What's Wrong With Being An Older Woman?
Sometimes I hear comments from women that are a touch upsetting. Like this comment for instance:
I was at a local bar/restaurant lately, talking "girl talk" with some friends, when one mentioned, "It's so hard getting old. None of the men look at us anymore." I'm like, what!?! Is this true?!? I found myself getting alittle upset by her statement. She's the same age as I am! I still have a mental image in my head that I'm not any older than 39! I kind of felt sorry for her. She seemed to have the idea that just because we're "50" that we should just shuffle off to oblivion!
Well, not this girl!! I may be "50", married, alittle over my target weight, country girl through and through, alittle naive, but I still can get the 'all over glance', a wink here and there with a smile and nod, (most notably from true gentlemen) and I even have had a wolf whistle or two aimed my way!
Anyhow, that's it for my ramblings on this subject. I just hope that anyone who reads this just enjoys being a woman, no matter how old you may be!
